HE'S OUT!!

It has been a busy couple of weeks. Last weekend, I was at Gordon for 3 games Saturday and Sunday. I think I'm still thawing out. I don't think I've ever sat through such a cold baseball game. I don't know how they played so well, but Brian was sweating after the second game on Saturday! They swept Roane State and won against Lagrange Tuesday. Yesterday, I took half a day from work and went to watch them play Lakeland College from Illinois. This picture was from yesterday's game. As you can see, the temperature was much warmer and the sun was glorious! This was a great pick off I happened to capture. I'm still learning to use my new camera and was really excited to see this result. If only the fence wasn't in the way :(.

Back to the game. They won the first game 2-1, a real pitcher's duel. The second game we were down 4-2 in the fifth. Brian hadn't had a good day at the plate. He pulled his lower back earlier in the week and it's still bothering him. Anyway, he had hit the ball every at bat, but they were either ground outs or fly outs. Well, they had one out in the fifth with two men on. I think the count was 2-1. He hit a hard line drive down third base line scoring two runs to tie the game. He got a double out of it. Martin, his friend from Germany was up to bat and hit the ball hard to left field and Brian scored the go ahead run. Gordon won 7-4. I'm heading back down today to watch the last two games of the series. I think their record is now 13-2.

My brother Jerry and his wife, Jennifer came down to watch yesterday and so did my brother Larry and his daughter, Lauren. Lauren plans on attending Gordon next year so she came for a student visitation day and loved it. Since my nephew Ros started there this winter and with Brian and now Lauren, it's going to be quite the family affair! Lauren of course can't wait to meet Brian's friends! I told him he'd better be selective who he introduces her to, because I know some of their reputations! Ros is doing well there and actually ended up in the room across the hall from Brian. I think most of their spare time is spent in Brian's room playing Halo.

Michael is starting his first top secret assignment on Monday. Of course since it's top secret, he can't tell us what it is. I tried to convince him because I was a sworn officer of the court that I wouldn't tell, but it didn't work. He's very excited about it. As a matter of fact he was washing his coveralls, probably for the first time in two years, so they would be clean when he starts his new assignment. I asked him if he was going to wear dark glassed and a fedora. He said no, but he was shaving his face hair. He's so funny. I'm very proud of the man he's become.

Joseph is hard at work with APD. This is his new do. When the academy starts, he will have to be totally bald. That will be a site! I think the academy starts in two weeks, but in the mean time he's working at the precinct answering phones and giving out info. I asked him how he knew what to tell people. He said he asks someone, or just figures it out. Who knows what he's telling them?? Sai is doing well, the baby's growing and so is she! She is still enjoying school and I think their Green Card interview is in two weeks.

My dad was awarded a plaque for Salesman of the Year 2006 in the nation for his company! What an accomplishment at 72. He made a really big sale and because of that, he and mom are getting a trip to Italy! I think they'll be going in June. I told him he'd better keep up the rehab on his back so he can enjoy the trip. He's doing ok, still having some pain, but it is getting better slowly. Mom's still busy at work, especially since it's tax season.

That's all I know for now. I'll write another update soon, and hopefully will get some more good shots with my camera. It's exciting to get home and discover some really cool photos!

Keep in touch and remember God is good all the time!

IT'S A GIRL!!

Introducing Makaila Li York, weighing in at 10 oz, approximately 6" long and presently 19 weeks old. As you can see in the first picture, she's practicing to be a gymnast as her feet are over her head!! Either that, or she's practicing her Yoga:) Great Grandma York has already bought the beginnings of her new wardrobe, Grandpa Jones will be going to purchase her traditional red velvet dress, just as he has done for every daughter and granddaughter in the family! Joseph is already practicing answering the door with a gun at his side, and David is trying to figure out how to ship himself to Thailand when they go over. Me, I'm just trying to figure out if I know how to change a little girl's diaper and how to buy bows and frills instead of jeans and boots! I'm sure I'll adjust. We are all just thankful and blessed that she's healthy, Sai is healthy and all is well. As I've said before and will continue to say, isn't God good?
I'll keep you posted on the baby updates as well as any other late breaking news!!

GOING, GOING, GONE!!!!!

HOME RUN SWING

What a weekend!!! Brian hit his first college home run!!! They played Atlanta Christian College 3 games, one last night and two today. Last night Brian went 3 for 5 with 2 singles, a double and an RBI. They won 13-3. His double was the game ending RBI that put them up 10 runs to end the game. Today in the first game he was the Designated hitter, and boy, did he hit it. His first at bat was a triple over the center fielder's head that one hopped the fence, and also was an RBI, putting them ahead 2-0. His next at bat was a long fly ball to right field that was caught and a run scored. His third at bat the count was 3-2 and in his word, the pitcher served up the perfect down the middle pitch. He hit it out over left field. You knew it was out when he hit it. I retrieved the ball and will add it to my collection :) They won 8-6.

Game two was even better. I got to see him play first base for the first time. He's really good. His bat continued to be hot. He had an RBI ground ball single, a pop up that scored 2 and was dropped by the short stop and he made it in to 2nd base. He made a great ground ball scoop at first to tag out the runner. The score was 12-3 in the fifth. They needed one run to end the game by run rule. Brian was first up to bat. He hit a drive to the right field fence that just dropped fair for another triple. His buddy Martin Dewald, who's from Manheim, Germany, was up to bat, hit a line drive single to knock Brian in and end the game. He asked me if it felt good watching baseball again. I said, "OH YEAH!" Man, I love to watch my boys do their things.!!

Isn't God good to bless us with great kids? More important than seeing him play ball is to see the respect his team mates have for him . I know he's right where he needs to be. I am a proud mama. Michael's doing great. He got his top secret security clearance this week so he can start working on the nuclear welding. Joseph started the police academy this week and passed all of his physical fitness tests with no problem. We go to the doctor Tuesday to find out if Sai's having a boy or girl. Wow, I am blessed.

I'll let you know Tuesday if we find anything out about the baby, and I'll be posting regular baseball updates as well.

God bless and keep in touch.
