College Baseball

Brian had his first official college games in Tallahassee, FL this weekend. They lost the first game 6-2, won the second 2-0 and lost the third 4-3. Believe it or not, Brian made the paper in Tallahassee. This picture was taken by Phil Sears at the Tallahassee Democrat. He made the play and got the out! He also was mentioned in game one's recap article on the Tallahassee Community College web site. I was kidding him that even in Florida he's making the papers! He was excited about this weekend and pleased with his performance. He made some good catches at first and said he made a really good play by catching a foul ball at first. I guess he can play first base!! I can't wait to go see him play next weekend, Feb 10 a double header at home!! Hopefully I'll have new pictures to share and exciting news. We haven't seen him in a month, but I think he has this weekend off, so he'll probably come home.
I'll keep you updated and please, keep in touch!

News Flash

It's official, Joseph starts with Atlanta PD Feb. 6. My how things change in one year. This time last year we were preparing for Joseph to come home from Thailand with his new bride, Sai. He started back to school, has been working and found out they're having a baby. So it was time to get the "real" job with benefits and earning enough to support a family. Police work has been his dream since he was a boy. What about his call to missions? Well, he plans to continue school in the Fall, with encouragement from the APD to finish because they desparately need Chaplains. They will probably be here 4-5 years finishing school, and this will provide him the means financially to do so and also to work at something he loves. When the time comes for God to move them on, I know they will heed God's call and follow Him, but for now, this appears to be God's plan and His timing, because things have worked in ways we could not have planned out had we tried. His words to me this afternoon when he called were, "Well, you can officially start worrying, I'm hired." What he doesn't realize yet, because he's not a parent, is that the "worrying" started 24 years ago and continues daily for any parent. I'm sure it's true for everyone that even tho we place our children in God's hands, we still "worry" about them on many different levels throughout their lives. I don't fear for his safety, because I truly trust God's plan for our lives and I know that through Him, I will have the strength to face any trial that come my way, even the fact that Joseph will be driving around the streets of Atlanta going over 100 mph at times with a gun, probably chasing after bad guys. Let's see, the only thing that's different than now is that he'll have a gun :) Because I've heard the stories from his younger brothers about his driving escapades. Brian just asked me over Christmas, "Mom, did you know your Camry will go 120 mph?" I said, "I know that's what the speedometer says, but I've never tried it." He proceeded to tell me that Joseph had and with him in the car!!! Thank goodness moms don't know everything :0. Well, anyway, continue to pray for him and us, and as David says "the bad guys, because they don't have a clue what they've got coming their way!"

They changed the baby's due date to 7-10. We should find out 2-13 if it's a boy or girl! Michael's doing well, ready to start back conditioning for football, because he's bored. Brian made the Dean's list his first semester and his first baseball game is Friday in Tallahassee, Fl. Too bad I won't be able to attend, but that's too far even for "Baseball Mom" to drive for a day to watch a game. I'll be able to see many others and will keep you posted.

God bless, and keep in touch. I love hearing from you all!!!
